My name is Jessi, and I am an avid backyard gardener/farmer. I am also a married mom with two young kids, so I do not always have the time or the energy to put towards the garden or the animals that I would like.
Being at least a little bit self-sufficient is important to me, and I think one of the most important ways for me to do that is to build community with friends and neighbors who feel similarly, and have skills and resources to share. I also like to be (or at least feel) thrifty. We raise chickens (for meat and eggs), rabbits, and a wide variety of fruits, berries and vegetables in our standard sized city lot. I also can, freeze, dry, or pickle lots of our food each year. I am mostly self taught, and thus I am certainly no expert at any of these things per se, and am always looking for advice, help and tips to help me out, and am happy to share what I have and know as well.
