There is nothing like a perfect pear. Have a good fall, hope to see you in the spring, if not sooner!

After the last bout of sweet corn we did (30 big bags and 30 small bags) in the freezer, I think I am done with sweet corn processing for the year. It will be corn on the cob from now on.
Bring on the berries for canning.

I'm envious, our corn isn't even started yet.

Aargh, how disappointing! I didn't realize they were that sensitive to excessive moisture.
Everyone says it is almost impossible to grow peaches here without shelter. I thought it was just peach leaf curl, but maybe there is more to it than that.

my peaches did not fair so well. they really don't like the moisture levels this year.

We did a pond like this several years ago. Do you plan to put fish in it? We had a lot of issues with raccoons, and ended up making it just for plants.

we are probably going to put Koi in it. we are fortunate to have an out side dog who runs free on our farm. so Coons and the like are not an issue. I could see how it would be easy pickins. I once had a coon take my catfish stringer and all out of the bucket of water they were in.

Sounds delicious. I've never heard of green tomato bread, though. Interesting!
